NeonCampobase
Neon was founded in Bologna in 1981, in a small space in Via Solferino. When the gallery started to cooperate with Francesca Alinovi, an intense period of collaboration started, characterized by the discovery of Graffiti artists, the no-wave movement from New York and the short-lived Emphatism. In 1988 Neon starts its activity again, with important exhibitions. When the gallery moved to Via Zanardi in 2003, neon>campobase was created, a sort of laboratory for the search for a possible update of the gallery structure, as a succession of situations that can facilitate collaborations, intersections, exchanges and discussions. Between 2003 and 2004 neon>projectbox was active in Milan, it was a very small space that presented different projects that were specially conceived for the place itself, in an attempt to superimpose and integrate the content and its container. In 2005 neon>container_20 was started, a project in which different events were conditioned by the type of space of intervention, a standard-size container for the transport of merchandise, with all the implications and references this element suggests. In the same year the new space neon>fdv is inaugurated in Milan, and it cooperates with neon>campobase, with a program that is independent and yet coordinated, aiming at creating a connection and facilitating the circulation of new energies between the two towns.
